A Message From Our Founder

OUR STORY
At Great Plains Children’s Museum, we believe in the power of play, connection, and being authentically yourself. Founded by Lindsay Breuler, a seasoned entrepreneur support professional and fundraising expert, the museum was born from a desire for connection to the “promised village” and a space where caregivers can take a deep breath while allowing their children to explore.
With years of experience supporting startups through organizations like Emerging Prairie and gener8tor, Lindsay has built communities, led fundraising efforts, and championed access to resources. After stepping away from the full-time workforce to raise her three children, she saw a critical need for an accessible space that supports unstructured, play-based learning for children and supports caregivers at a community level.
With focus areas on skilled trades exposure, pretend play, nature exploration, and creativity, our vision is to build a 20,000-30,000 sq. ft. facility on 10+ acres with immersive indoor and outdoor experiences for year-round, daily enjoyment.
We’re rallying the community to bring this vision to life—join us in helping kids explore and parents connect!
The Details... So Far
We officially formed in North Dakota in October 2024 and were granted our 501c3 status in February 2025 after just 26 days!
At this time, we do not have a physical permanent location (we hope to secure a donation of land and/or a building). However we will host pop-up and temporary programming and exhibits in the Fargo, Moorhead, West Fargo, Horace areas and beyond.
Our hope is to have a facility that is approximately 20,000-30,000 square feet with around 15-20 acres. This will allow us to host our six core exhibit areas, a gift shop, a cafe', community rooms, and an expansive outdoor experience focused on natural play elements.
