We are 100% volunteer-led with ZERO paid employees until we reach financial feasibility. As such all of our programs and work is done by our amazing volunteers. Here are a few volunteer opportunities we have available or upcoming.
- Event/Programming Support - Helping to staff booths, run activities, and host programming around various topic areas that align with our values.
- Board Roles - We are currently recruiting board members with skillsets specifically in 501c3 Law, 501c3 Tax compliance, Capital Campaign support, Nonprofit Board Governance, Real Estate Acquisition, Museum exhibit design and formation.
- Committee support - We are planning to build out committees for the following areas that we would like to build out the volunteer base to support these committees. Committees we would like to build out are Marketing/Media; Volunteer Support; Fundraising; Programming; Data & Feasibility research.
Please fill out this form to meet with our team about these opportunities.
In-Kind Donations come in a wide variety of forms. Here is a list of our highest needs currently:
- Office Space - Currently all of our programming materials are being stored in our homes. As we build out more activity kits, having a space to work and host meetings will be essential.
- Activity Materials - Art/Craft materials, Loose parts, pretend play items, play items, and more. We do also have an Amazon Wishlist that we update occasionally with items we are looking to secure.
- Services - Building a Museum requires many services from Tax filling, Legal services, and more. We are currently 100% volunteer-led which means we try to utilize in-kind donations as much as possible.
- Products - Items that we will use regularly in our programs. Examples include; a pop-up tent, storage bins for activity kits, and more.
To make an In-Kind donation, please email our team at info@greatplainscm.com.
We all know and recognize that to make the Great Plains Children's Museum possible we will need to secure the aspects;
- Monetary Support - We are currently looking to find out first Major Financial contributions of six-figures plus to kick off our fundraising on the right foot as well as start to have paid staff to professionalize our efforts.
- Annual and Event Partnerships - Our team greatly appreciates the support of our partners. We are flexible in how we design our partnerships to maximize the impact your organization is looking to make in our community.
- Land and/or a Building - We do not currently have a location and are operating completely on a remote basis out of our board members own homes. We are looking to secure Land (ideally 10+ acres) with or without an existing facility we might be able to retrofit at least 20,000 sq ft in size.
- Sustainability - One of the Children's Museums we look up to is the Children's Museum of South Dakota which was able to gain an endowment that pays for their operations. This would be a transformational gift and create access to as many children and families as possible. This is something we hope to achieve prior to opening.
If you are interested in exploring any of these areas of support, we would be honored to talk with you. Our Executive Director, Lindsay Breuler can be reached at lindsay@greatplainscm.com to set up a time to connect.
